A former education commissioner during the second republic in Ogun state,Dr Akin Ogunpola is dead.
He passed away in his Abeokuta home Monday after a brief illness.
The former don’t of the University of Ibadan was responsible for implementing the free education programme under the government of late Chief Bisi Onabanjo of the defunct Unity Party of Nigeria(UPN).
He was a professor of economics at the nations premiere University,University of Ibadan where he tutored for over two decades before he took up appointment as the state education commissioner.
Dr Ogunpola,a native of Abeokuta capital of Ogun state was also an Owu chief and top notched of the defunct Social Democratic Party(SDP) during the aborted third republic.
