The Federal Government on Monday announced that a total of N1,689,757,489.87 was received as COVID-19 eradication support donations from April 1 to May 31.
It said the funds were received through designated commercial bank accounts and the Central Bank of Nigeria/Treasury Single Account.
It disclosed this in a public notice signed by the Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris on the details of the donations received through Deposit Money Banks and CBN/TSA.
The Federal Government had recently, through the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, opened commercial bank accounts, in addition to the CBN/TSA account, through which donations to support the eradication of COVID-19 in Nigeria could be made.
The government had explained that this move was to ensure effective and efficient coordination and management of the funds.
Providing a breakdown of the N1,689,757,489.87 received from the inception of accounts on April 1 to May 31, the government said a total donation of N792,121,613.89 was received from April 1 to May 8.
It added that N897,635,875.98 was received from May 9 to May 31.
“From the N897,635,875.98 received from May 9 to May 31, the total amount received through commercial banks was N710,076,331.60,” it explained in the notice that was made available in Abuja by the Director, Information and Public Relations, Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, Henshaw Ogubike.
It further stated that the total donation received through CBN/TSA was N187,559,544.38.
The Federal Government also noted that from May 9 to May 31, the sum of N100,005,000 was received through Zenith Bank; N507,753,731.60 was received through First Bank; N2,210,100 was received through Access Bank; and N100,107,500 was received through Guaranty Trust Bank.
It said the details of the N792,121,613.89 received from April 1 to May 8 had earlier been made public.
