…Says, he won’t attend service from next week cause of his age
General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God,(RCCG) Pastor Enoch Adeboye has predicted that the present lockdown as a result of the Coronavirus will lead to lift up for believers.
In his sermon transmitted via radio yesterday,he enjoined believers to seize every opportunity of the moment to move spiritually closer to God adding that mental and spiritual lockdown is worse than physical lockdown .
He however said that he, his wife and grandchildren because of their age won’t be attending church service from next week June 21 been above 65 and under 15 years respectively.
In the message titled, “From lockdown to lifting up” he quoted from the book of Acts 3:1-8 about the lame beggar who was healed by Peter and John after which he lift up,stood and walked and entered with them into the temple, leaping and praising God.
Pastor Adeboye compared the Corona virus pandemic to the philosophical saying that “man is born great but everywhere he is in chains” adding that the situation is likened to NAD Man of Gadara in Mark 5:2-4 who wanted to be free even though he was chained,he broke the chains because he wanted to be free.
He enjoined people to realise that physical lockdown, mental and spiritual lockdown are enemies of man adding that when Adams sinned in the garden of,he was locked down physically .
Pastor Adeboye said a lot of things will begin to happen when a man is mentally locked down,”he will regard Routine things as normal and begin to think that is the best thing that would happen to him quoting Acts 2:2-3.
He gave three things that are enemies of greatness.
The first of such he said is for man to be satisfied with being average adding, “average is enemy of being clever and many are satisfied as being clever”adding Solomon was clever enough to ask God for wisdom.
The second obstacle is accepting Good enough saying,” good enough is the greatest enemy of greatness and if you accept good enough you may never be great and this is reflected in the life of Elisha in 2kings13:14-21.
The greatest enemy of greatness of all is for man to think he is already great as “this is d greatest enemy of complete”.
Pastor Adeboye cited the example of his primary school headmaster in 1952 who rest on his oars and wrote him in 1977 to help him secure admission for associate diploma certificate in education when he was already a lecturer in the University of Lagos.
