Omoerah, ex-NBC director is dead

A retired Deputy Director of the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) Mr. Peter Omoerah died in his Sleep on Sunday morning.

The Director General of the NBC, Dr. Armstrong Idachaba who confirmed it exclusively to Patmos Media Line Sunday afternoon said the news of the demise of Mr. Omoerah a great footballer in his school days was really unfortunate as the staffs of the organization are so disturbed of the demise of an extremely nice and gentleman.

Dr. Idachaba said his heart was so heavy when he visited the Omoerahs at their house in Abuja Sunday afternoon. Mr. Omoerah had retired as a Deputy Director and Head of Audit Depart of the Broadcast regulation outfit in 2015.

Some of his colleagues told Patmos Media Line that the late Mr. Omoerah was an amiable, fatherly and of impeccable service who was not reported sick before his death.

Patmos Media Line stumbled on Abadina Platform, a University of Ibadan settlement social media forum, which has produced many prominent professional, academic and civil servants said “Oga Peero” expressed shock on the passing away of the stylish footballer who grew up with them.

Patmos Media Line traced Mr. Omoerah to his secondary school days at the Baptist High School, Iwo now in Osun State where he played football for the school that runs Higher School Certificate (HSC) from class one in the late 60s.

He played as a prolific striker and proficient dribbler for the Western Academicals which was the football team of the Old Western State Secondary School team where his nickname was “Peter Baby face Anieke” after a famous defunct Stationery Stores of Lagos striker, Peter Anieke.
