A tenant (name withheld), who allegedly stabbed his landlord’s son, Oso Oladotun Johnson, to death is now telling the police in Ikotun, reasons why he committed the heinous crime.
The unfortunate incident, which threw the entire Sebili Kazeem Street, Cele Bus Stop, Agodo Egbe, Ikotun neigbhourhood into panic and confusion occurred last Sunday over non payment of electricity bill.
Trouble, our source said, started when the suspect was approached, by a co-tenant who is  in charge of making sure the bills are paid, to clear his accumulated bills.
Narrating how the gory incident happened, another tenant who refused his name in print because the incident is being investigated by the police said: “The issue started on Saturday when one of the tenants coordinating NEPA bill asked the culprit to pay his bills, which has accumulated. Instead of paying, he threatened to break the head of the person who dared to ask him to pay his NEPA bill. Being afraid of his threat, he was made him to sign an undertaking on Sunday morning not to harm anybody. This was supervised by a military man who came at the instance of the person he had earlier threatened to broker peace. Thereafter, the culprit went to lodge a complain at Ikotun Police Station. While the other tenants informed the landlord about the issue and he (the landlord) promised to come in the evening of same day to resolve the issue.
“However, the accused went to the police station again in the same evening and his return, was  armed with a knife with which he allegedly pursued the unsuspecting co-tenant (landlord’s son) he initially threatened and drove the knife straight into the chest of the 29 years old man who as at the time of his death was a staff of Lawson branch of Access Bank plc.
