The Ekiti state government has disclosed that the state was in possession of 9 functional Ventilators to fight the deadly corona virus that is currently ravaging the World and Nigeria in particular.
The Commissioner for Health and Human Services in Ekiti State Dr. Mojisola Yaya-Kolade stated this at a Press Conference held at governor’s office in Ado- Ekiti .
Dr. Yaya-Kolade noted that the state has taken enough measures to curtain the continued spread of the global pandemic stressing that all borders leading to the state had been equipped with medical equipments to test whoever that is coming into the state.
“Everything is in place, the security agents at the borders are on top of the game to ensure that the temperature of all persons coming into the state are taken to know their health status”. she noted.
The commissioner said that Ekiti state government has taken enough measures to curb the spread of the virus noting that there was no need for house to house check for possible index case in Ekiti state like Lagos state.
Also speaking , the Commissioner for Environment in Ekiti state Hon. Gbenga Agbeyo disclosed that Covid 19 committee was working on how to checkmate the reported excesses of the security agents across the state.
“The road blocks you’re seeing across the state are to curb the excesses of recalcitrant citizens in the state and it is not there to harass any body carrying out essential services. ” He noted.
Hon. Agbeyo revealed that the fumigation of the state that is currently going would continue until the entire state is covered and till the deadly corona virus is totally defeated.
While also answering questions, Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planing Hon. Femi Ajayi noted that the Conditional Cash
Transfer money of 4 months totalling 20,000 have been paid to the beneficiaries as palliative to poorest of the poor in the state as directed by the state Governor.
“It’s a program where each beneficiary is paid 5000 naira on monthly basis. We have been to 8 Local Government Areas and we hope to complete all the 16 LGAs very soon ” .He said.
Hon. Ajayi reiterated that all registered Associations in the state have been duly taken care off in terms of palliative to all their members across the state.
He revealed that the next level of palliative was to take care of individuals especially that couldn’t afford basic needs across the state.
