…Says boundary closure won’t affect movement of essentials between states

Chairman of the Governors forum,Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti state has called on President Muhammad Buhari to address Nigerians more often on the Coronavirus and other issues so as to gain public confidence.

Speaking on a Skype call by the moderators at the Television Continental programme Your View,he said that the President did well in his address on Sunday adding that it should be done more often on national issues.
He said that contrary to the general belief that governors in other states are not doing much on the Coronavirus he said the governors had a tele- conference on Sunday where more than 30 of them shared their experiences adding that proximity of Lagos state to media gives it an advantage over others.
Said he,”it is not as if others are not doing much but because Lagos is the epic centre and the fact that more than 25% of those affected are from Lagos gives the state much attention.A lot is happening in other states too”.
Governor Fayemi also disclosed that there is a protocol agreement between states on the crossing of boundaries to enable essentials like food and drugs pass through adding that security forces have been intimated about this.
On his fellow governors who tested positive, he said people should understand that Coronavirus is an equal opportunity disease adding that most of those personalities who brought it from outside the country also have aides who travelled with them.
He also called on the federal government and the national disease control centre(NCDC) to establish testing centres all over the country while states that don’t have should be allowed to have.
Governor Fayemi said he is in touch with Governors Seyi Makinde and El Rufai of Oyo and Kaduna states respectively who tested positive to the virus saying they are in high spirit.
“My wife and myself too are in isolation though we tested negative to the virus and it is an opportunity for the family to bind together”, he declared
