The British High Commissioner, Her Excellency, Catriona Laing, has said that the commission has decided to reduce the number of United Kingdom staff and dependents it is offices in Abuja and Lagos.
This decision,she said has become imperative as it has become more difficult to get its people out due to airport closures in the country.
She however said that while its Missions in both Abuja and Lagos will remain open to continue to carry out essential work including round the clock consular assistance and support to British nationals in Nigeria.
Said she,” we are exploring a range of options for sending staff and dependents home,as there are no commercial options available “.
The high commissioner said the commission is also exploring options for any British nationals who remain in Nigeria and wish to return to the United Kingdom.
She urged its nationals to continue to check its travel advice which is updated with the latest information.
