Ekiti govt meets CAN, NASFAT otherstakeholders on COVID-19 d

The Ekiti State Government has met with religious leaders and relevant stakeholders in the state to ensure total compliance with the social distancing order of the state that banned religious and social gathering of more than 20 people as a measure to curb the spread of the endemic Coranavirus.

The commissioner for Health and Human services in Ekiti state Dr.(Mrs) Mojisola Yaya Kolade disclosed this at press conference with Journalists held at Emergency Operations Centre office in Ado-Ekiti on Monday to update the public as directed by the governor .

Dr. Yaya-Kolade revealed that the only case confirmed positive in the state is in a stable condition adding that the state Convid 19 surveillance team has traced the contacts of 37 of the 41 contacts that infected person had contacted before being detected and quarantined .

“The Convid 19 team is working endlessly to ensure that the remaining 4 people that are yet to be identified are contacted and necessary steps taking to curtain further spread”. She noted.

The commissioner stated that meetings and lots of sensitisation are currently ongoing in the state for various stakeholders especially on the need to use sanitisers regularly, engaging in regular hand washing with soap under running water and ensuring social distancing order of the state.

“As part of the efforts to forestall further spread of the disease, the state government had a meeting with Traditional rulers, CAN ,NASFAT , market women, leadership of Okada riders Association and NURTW in the state just today to sensitize them on basic steps to follow in order to curtain in the spread of the virus in the state” .The Commissioner Stated.

The commissioner stated that all banks, financial institutions as well as public and private offices in the state have been communicated on how to ensure safety of their customers and staff . She added that Taskforce were already moving round to ensure that the laid down rule and regulations are adhere to strictly.

While contributing ,the incidence manager who is also the permanent secretary Ministry of Health and Human services in Ekiti state Dr((Mrs) Folakemi Olomojobi encouraged all and sundry to engage in simple hygiene and that everyone should do the right thing. She pleaded with Sanitizer sellers not to inflate prices of the product.

Dr Olomojobi stressed the need for everyone to be his/her brothers keeper and desist from exploitation at this trying time.
