At a time most of her peers choose other lucrative jobs and career path,Princess Clementina Module Ologbenla opted to spend her life in the classroom moulding life and imparting knowledge.As a testimony to this, she spent a total of thirty years in the career she loves with all her mind.
Thus by the time she performed the ceremonial Pens Down to round off her job on Thursday at the Stadium Junior Grammar School,Ifako Ijaye,Lagos,which occasion also marked her 60th birthday,she has risen to the position of Deputy Director doing what she loves most.
During the course of her journey in the classroom which started in 1990 she has acquired much to prepare her for the task .He started her training from the Teacher Training College,College of Education and capped it with a degree in the university.
Ask why she spent so much she quipped ,”i couldn’t have done any other thing adding,”I have love and passion for teaching and moulding children character and this explains why I prepared much and stayed so long in the profession”.
As for her, young teachers ought to devote more time in developing themselves rather than money and material acquisition “.
Her husband of over three decades, himself a retired civil servant,who also retired few years back -Adebowale Ologbenla, said he couldn’t have married another person having shared in his wife’s dream of imparting knowledge and moulding character.Besides,”she has time for the family and if I had to marry again, I’ll still choose her as my life partner “.
Indeed a junior school teacher, Sanni Adewale who served under the retired princess describe his experience as thrilling having passed through her supervision and as great mentor.” we look at her as a perfect role model and she is always enjoning us to focus more on the job rather than the material possession in order to have a fulfilled life”.
As she steps out after three decades,her concern now is for the government to focus more on getting committed teachers to take up the job rather than using political patronage to recruit teachers who are neither committed or have d passion.This trend she said is responsible for the fall in education standard in the country.
