CORONAVIRUS: We have not recorded any index case in Ekiti, Yaya-Kolade

Ekiti state government has reiterated it’s commitment to the protection of the citizens and residents of the state against COVID19.

The commissioner for health and human services Dr mojisola Yaya-Kolade gave this assurance at the isolation center of Oba Adejugbe general hospital Ado Ekiti where medical practitioners were trained.

She enjoined all medical practitioners that have volunteered to help in the combat of the pandemic to give in their best and to ensure professionalism that is required.

On the coronal virus case in Ekiti, Dr Yaya-Kolade emphasized that that died was not an index case because the result was inconclusive.

The information officer for the health ministry,Abiodun Olofe quoted the commissioner as reiterating that the two isolated patients in the state have not been confirmed positive and they are responding to treatment speedily.

Yaya-Kolade assured the safety of the medical practitioners and also the people of Ekiti State has she urged them to take all the precautionary measures against coronavirus.

‘Ekiti state is not interested in loosing an ant to this pandemic let alone human being. We as a government would ensure our dear residents are protected’. She said.

Earlier, the chairman of the case management team on coronavirus and the permanent secretary of hospital management board Dr. Williams Afolabi commended the quick response of the state government and it’s pro active steps in curtaning the spread of coronal virus to Ekiti state.

He said the committee is seriously on the contact traising of the USA citizen that died in the state and would ensure steps are taken in accordance with the directive and dictates of Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention.

Dr. Bayo Fashola educated the participants on risk assessment, the use of personal protective equipments and how it will be used when it occurred.

He advised the care givers to avoid touching their face and body while attending to the patients. The participants were drawn from the secondary and tertiary health facilities across the state.

Participants were later conducted round the isolated centre as they all commended the state government on the state of the facilities and equipments at the center.
