Sunshine Stars coach, Kabiru Dogo has said he is now determined to concentrate fully on the task of leading the Akure based side days after his rumoured possible exit hit the media.
The club was thrown into a dilemma of sorts following the uncertainty that surrounded the future of their head coach, Kabiru Dogo in the wake of rumours that he was heading back to struggling Nasarawa United.

But after the club had got a reassurance, it caused their media department to issue a rebuttal insisting that Dogo remains their Coach.

Dogo has since personally reiterated his desire to continue working with Sunshine Stars.
Ahead of their Matchday 18 fixture with Heartland in Okigwe, www.npfl.ng
caught up with the Coach and he
confirmed that he has decided to shelve the idea of leaving Sunshine Stars and will remain in charge of the Owena Whales until the end of the season at least as a sign of respect for various football
stakeholders that stepped in.

“Left for me I would have rather liked us to concentrate on the Sunday fixture because so many things have been written on the social media that were not really the true situation of things but I have put that behind me and fully focused on Sunshine Stars and our next game with
Heartland in Okigwe,” Dogo told npfl.ng.

“It has been a test for me in the past few weeks but I am glad that everything has been resolved and I can concentrate on Sunshine Stars.

“It was neither here nor there but I can confirm that I left Akure for Ilorin for few days because of the prevailing circumstances.

“I have decided it was best I remain with my present club after some discussions with some football stakeholders. The Nigeria Coaches
Association also played their part to make me see the reasons why I should not contemplate leaving at this point. We are on the same page now and have forgotten about that”, Dogo made his point on the speculations.

He said that his immediate target is to be fully focused on their game with Heartland which he reckoned they have prepared for the game the same way they did for their previous games.

He added that he is not happy with their last home draw against Kano Pillars even though they are unbeaten in their last five games with three wins and the two draws.

“We must try to recoup the points we missed against Kano Pillars because it was a game we could have won but our lack of precision in the final third,” he stated.

“We can’t afford to make the same mistakes against Heartland on Sunday. We must strive to be as efficient as possible.”

Sunshine Stars are fourth in the NPFL table with 27 points from 17
games as against Heartland who are seven places below the Owena Whales
with 22 points from 17 matches.
