One of the huge projects the immediate past governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, left behind uncompleted was the Pen Cinema Fly- Over bridge. Though, he had promised to complete it before the expiration of his first term in office with the hope that he will have the opportunity of a second term. But the circumstances with which he was denied a second term ticket by his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) – putting him in the history books the likes of Mr. Chimaroke Mbadinuju of Anambra State who was also shut out of a second term ticket by his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led to the unexplained reasons for, which work that was progressing at a geometric speed stopped suddenly on the project.

As it was as at May 29, 2019
Well, all that is now history. The contractor handling the gigantic project,Hitech Construction Company, is back to site with its men. Work is progressing at the speed of lighting. The bridge construction that had hitherto not gone past the riotous Pen Cinema Bus Stop when work was suspended, has gone past the rail line level crossing and fast approaching Okekoto Bus stop.
Same for a bus terminus that the state is constructing within the area and, which was also affected by the stoppage of work. Work has resumed on the two projects. All these have been made possible because the new governor of the state, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is an apostle of continuity who had on assumption of office on May 29 2019, told Lagosians, that he will complete all viable projects started by his predecessors.

Present state of work as at January 24 2020Coincidentally, work on the construction of an Underpass at the Pen Cinema level crossing to accommodate the Lagos-Ibadan Standard Gauge rail line is also going on at a frenetic speed by the China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC), all combined to make the area a huge construction site. These three on-going projects when completed, will transform Agege and its environ into a big transport hub.
Lagos is really working!
