The United Nation (UN) Women, European Union (EU) through its Spotlight Initiave has partnered with Nongovernmental Organisation (NGO) Women Advocates and Research Documentation Centre (WARDC) in advancing the campaign on Sexual Gender Base Violence (SGBV), Harmful Practices (HP) and Sexual Health and Reproduction Right (SRHR).
At the agenda for focus group meeting on advancing strategies to address the SGBV, HP and SRHR for Lagos East Senatorial district conveyed by WARDC in Lagos on Thursday for Lagos Easy Senatorial District Executive Director of WARDC, Dr. Abiola Akiyode- Afolabi in her welcome address opined that the focus group meeting is aimed at building a mass movement and raising voices of stakeholders so to cause positive change in the cause of eradicating all forms of violence against women and girls.
One of the focal groups at the meeting explained that why all forms of Gnder Base Violence (GBV) is a global pandemic that is assuming alarming proptoion and that one out of every three women has experienced some form of GBV or the other. It implies that one-third of female population has experienced a form of GBV.
The meeting which had in attendance about 20 groups including civil societies Organisation (CSO)
NGOs, Gender-Base Organisations and faith-based organisation also seeks to strengthen capacity and supports CSOs and women movement on Sustainable Development Goals and target SGBV, HP, SRHR in Lagos.
The Spotlight Initiative is a global initiative of the EU and UN with WARDC as the implementation partner in Lagos.
