Dayo Abatan dies at 80

Veteran politician and a one time secretary of Afenifere, Chief Dayo Abatan is dead.
He died on Sunday evening after a brief illness.
Chief Abatan who was the first publicity secretary of the defunct Unity Party of Nigeria(UPN)in 1979 later became an active member of the Social Democratic Party(SDP) during the aborted third republic and was later appointed a member of the 1994 national conference after which he joined the All Peoples Party (APP) from where he decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) at inception of the fourth republic.
He was until death the Eruku of Egbaland and Member, Gov. Dapo Abiodun Elders’ Advisory Council.

Chief Dayo Abatan, a political figure and Leader in Obafemi Owode Local Government of Ogun State’s Political Circle, reportedly passed away Sunday evening, at Lagos University Teaching Hospital, (Luth).

Late Abatan was a member of Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun Elders’ Advisory Council.
