Ekpere-Eta in her Christmas message commended Nigerian women for keeping the joy of Christmas alive in their homes and communities.

She urged that women inculcate the love, peace and kindness of Christ whose birth is marked during Christmas in their wards.

She also called on women to reach out the sick, the less privileged, prisoners and the forgotten this festive season. This is even as she asked women to pray for members of the armed forces fighting the insurgency and other security personnel who will be working to ensure that the yuletide season is peaceful.

Ekpere-Eta also noted in her message that woman use the Christmas for self-examination in order to end acts that run contrary to Christ preaching with is centered on love and brotherliness.

“In some homes, you will be able to identify those who are illegally kept as house helps from the children of the woman of the house. This is not what Christ taught us. During Christmas some will not look the way of those who lack. This shouldn’t be so. Christmas is also a season for us to reach out to slums and places like hospitals, orphanages and even prisons to show love to those there”, she stated.

The NCWD D-G called for prayers for Nigeria and its leaders.
“Though there will be a lot of merrymaking, Christmas is when we see families coming together to pray ahead of the New Year. I therefore plead for prayers for God’s blessing on Nigeria and its leaders this period. I wish Nigerian women and their families a happy Christmas”, the message read.
