Both were presented with leadership excellence awards for mobilising support for the JIFORM maiden international summit held in Abuja between November 27 and 28, 2019 in Abuja.
Presenting the awards to the awardees, the President of JIFORM, Ajibola Abayomi thanked the management of the station for giving massive publicity to the foundation’s activities.
“When we came asking for help in November, we never envisaged we would be so supported. Radio Nigeria gave JIFORM unquantifiable support that put us today on the world map as one of the notable organisations championing regular migration.
“We can’t thank you enough Prince Amosu. The reception by your management humbled us and we have no choice than to come back here to say a big thank all of you. I must let you know that just days after the event, JIFORM was invited to another global summit in Tunisia courtesy of the media boost by your organisation.
“As a mark of appreciation, one of your own, Mrs Bimbo Oyetunde, the GM of Bronze FM, Benin City, Edo State was chosen as part of the delegation to the event” Ajibola said.
Responding, Amosun commended JIFORM over it zeal to campaign against human trafficking, child labour and other forms of irregular migration in the nation.
“The contribution of Radio Nigeria to the success of your event was in line with our tradition of identifying with excellence. We looked at it from professional point of view as one programme that would enrich our content.
“We will continue to encourage JIFORM to do more on this project that affects humanity particularly to disabuse the minds of the youths who think there is free money on the streets of Europe and other continents.
“We have seen people who travelled for the sake of travelling and 40 years in oversea, they return to queue behind those they left behind in Nigeria. While migration is not a crime, there is need to enlighten people on the choices they make on that.
“The media should do more by supporting a worthy cause like this. Sometimes I found it very strange when the media shy away from promoting its product rather we pride ourselves by showcasing other brands to the detriment of our own but Radio Nigeria won’t do that.
“On behalf of Radio Nigeria, we thank you for this honour. We receive the awards as marks of excellence on behalf our station even though our names were written on the plagues, for us, we are being challenged to do more”.
While Mr Seye Martins, the Gm of Metro FM was part of the Radio Nigeria management team at the occasion, the JIFORM delegation led by its president comprised Yakub Yusuf of The Source Magazine, Bukola Adetiloye of News Agency of Nigeria, Prince Benson Davies, the Publisher of the New Experience Newspaper, Abiola Peters, Controller News and Boye Akintola both of Radio One 103.5.
