While majority of his fans and colleagues are still in shock over his death, Newdawn can provide a little insight as to what killed Hanem who once ruled the air waves with his debut album, Turning Point that contained the hit song, Ozigizaga, released on Ivory Music (EMI) label then.
According to what his widow, told his erstwhile manager, Mr. Gideon Nwaomu, who on hearing the news of Hanem’s death, visted his Meran, Ojokoro area of Lagos State residence, Hanem was sick for like a week before his death.
“Yes, his widow told me he was sick briefly for like a week but had recovered before his death, Nwaomu told Newdawn on phone.
“That he only went to a doctor friend of his for rotinue check after the illness and that it was while he was with the doctor that a call was placed to his wife to bring food for his husband but on getting to the hospital with the food, that he met a different Hanem who later gave up the ghost.”
However, Nwaomu who is now based in Asaba but was in Lagos to catch a flight to Turkey days before the incident failed to disclose the nature of the disease that snuffed life out of Hanem.
Meanwhile no date has been fixed for his burial.
