The United Action for Change (UAC), has commended the Lagos State government on the recent road rehabilitation exercise going on across the state.
In a release made available by the organisation and singed by its Secretary, Michael Popoola Ajayi,
the company decided to acknowledge the efforts of the state to ameliorate the pains of the commuters.
“The UAC is a pan
Nigerian organisation dedicated to the cause of a better Nigeria is pleased to note your efforts at rehabilitating and repairing state Roads in Lagos State after the huge flooding and damage of roads in the wake of the extended rainy season that has just ended,” the release reads in part.
Reading further, the statement said the company appreciates such efforts.
“However, we note that some of the efforts made towards rehabilitation are being impacted by the man-hours lost by Lagos Commuters because of the timing of the efforts which is usually during normal working hours.
“Hence, we suggest that the repair works can be more effectively done between the hours of 10pm to 5pm when traffic is expected to be at the lowest volume.
“Further, we also do hope that the rehabilitated roads be complemented by good drainage network so that the roads can stand the test of time.
“We also suggest that State Government should encourage the leadership of Public Works and the Local Government and other critical organs of the state to be more responsible in the monitoring and maintenance of the said roads in terms of cleaning, desilting of drainages, patching of roads and other palliatives that will guarantee an extended life span of roads as a stitch in time saves nine.
“It is our sincere believe that if our humble suggestions can be considered, it will help in a long way in guaranteeing long life span of the rehabilitated roads.
“The United Action for Change is a non-partisan, non-governmental and not-for-profit organisation committed to the actualitation of the positive change that an average Nigerian yearns to achieve their personal goals and also make meaningful contribution to the society,” it concluded.
