The Ogun State Government is alleged to have paid about N16 million to rent and furnish the temporary accommodation secured by the Deputy Governor, Alhaja Noimot Oyedele
The house belonging to the late Justice George Sodeinde was allegedly secured as temporary accommodation for the DG pending the refurbishment of the Deputy Governor’s Lodge
Sources revealed that the bungalow building, which is almost directly behind the official Deputy Governor’s Lodge in the Government Reserve Area (GRA) at Oke-Ilewo was rented for an unspecified period and furnished for her at a cost close to N16m.
Impeccable sources said that the Deputy Governor had complained about the fittings and structure of the Deputy Governor,s Lodge and also rejected the State Government VIP Guest House close to Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation and MITROS House, which were available then.
Our source said that despite moving into the rented house, the Deputy Governor still, most of the time, like Governor Dapo Abiodun, commute between Abeokuta and her house in Lagos
The source explained that quotations for the renovation of the Deputy Governor’s Lodge had been forwarded to the governor for approval and release of funds
He however declined to give the amount quoted for the job.
In a response to newdawn inquiry, the Chief Press Secretary to the Ogun State Governor, Mr.Kunle Somorin, had said that the governor and his deputy were yet to move into their residences but choose to commute daily from Lagos and Iperu respectively due to on going renovation work .
Said he, “the duo choose the part of commuting daily from their homes because of the need for personal sacrifice. The quarters needs to be fixed and there are competing needs. Their Excellencies choose to sacrifice their comfort by prioritizing public service, welfare and security of the citizens.”
