Unknown hoodlums and Omo Oniles working in concert with some social miscreants and touts have destroyed the culvert linking Oke Aro and Matogbun two border communities in Ogun state.
Newdawnngr sources revealed that the social miscreants and omo oniles acting in concert with unknown Okada riders who felt threatened by the success of the rehabilitation destroyed the culvert .
It will be recalled that a group of volunteers from Matogbun area Community Development Council,(CDC), rehabilitated the only culvert linking the two communities about three months ago through donations and communal efforts by the volunteers.
Besides,Newdawnngr sources revealed that the omo oniles who are working concert with some unknown residents in the Oke Aro axis also set up toll points on monday evening to collect money from those living in Matogbun even when they never contributed anything since the rehabilitation started about four months ago.
Our sources revealed that the essence is to discourage rehabilitation of the road .
Today many commuters and vehicle owners going to work early in the morning could not asses oke -aro as the other link road near the Pig Farm does not open till 8.00 am thereby causing serious gridlock on the only road linking Matogbun with the outside world.
The activities of the tout was first felt by the miscreants by ester day evening as they set up illegal road block yesterday yo collect tolls from residents along the axis and this led to a traffic gridlock as many people couldn’t get home until midnight.
It was in furtherance of this action that they destroyed the culvert before day break today to cut off residents of Matogbun axis from Oke aro thereby preventing them from going to work.
Some of the residents express dismay at this action and called on authorities to take action,
“is a pity that some elderly men and women of omo owo filling station axes of the gate are working together with area boys to collect the toll and causing traffic yesterday.” retorted one of the residents early this morning.
To justify the allegation that the destruction was done in the night one of the residents declared,”, I pass through the place some minutes before 11pm yesterday and it wasn’t like this. They did not come out to collect money this morning after they’ve succeeded in their evil work. “.
