The scale is falling off the eyes of Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu because the state, which was once tagged the richest state in Nigeria is flat broke.

This grim financial situation our sources recently gathered, informed the decision of the governor to ask the state house of assembly to grant him permission to obtain N250billion loan even when this years fiscal year is running to an end.
It will be recalled that Governor Sanwo-Olu listed the completion of Pen Cinema bridge and others as reasons for the loan.

Aside, the paucity of fund to the state, insiders told Newdawnngr, is also responsible for the snail speed-like manner with which the governor has been handling the issue of bad and collapsed and potholes which has riddled Lagos roads and made commuting a nightmare for residents of the state of excellence.
The state of roads now worsened by torrential rainfall of the past three weeks and which has damaged his popularity among residents of the state.
“Let the truth be told, the state is broke. There is no money. Forget the excuse of rain we have been advancing as the reason the roads are not been repaired as fast as we want. Na money no dey,” one of the insiders said.

Another source even said that because of the empty treasury, which they said the former governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, allegedly made sure he emptied before handing over, Sanwo-Olu, is yet to provide official cars to his commissioners and other aides months after the assumed office.
And until, he is lucky with the loan, Lagosians will endure with the bad roads for sometime.
Ambode he is to have filtered away the state resources launching many of the uncompleted projects in the state.

It will also be recalled that the state house of assembly last week summoned the former governor and some of his commissioners to appear before it to explain why he took a loan to procure mass transit buses without getting approval from the state house of assembly.
However, only few of the commissioners have so far appeared before the house while Ambode have stayed away.
