The Alumni association of United Christian Secondary School, Apapa, Lagos is slated for this year 2019 and will be marked with some events in October.

In a statement signed by Tony Iyare and Kayode Ariwayo,president and secretary respectively,the Alumni Association,said it have resolved that this anniversary with the theme Giving Back, will be devoted largely to retooling the dilapidated infrastructure in the School.
The Alumni said it has engaged the Schools management on their needs assessment and have implored members to undertake any of the projects either as a set, branch, chapter, group of friends or individuals.
“We also appeal to our friends and corporate organisations to support the effort.” It stated in the release. The projects include:
A. Home Economics Unit: 1. Flooring of the Teacher’s Inner Office and the Main Laboratory 2. Deep Freezer. 3. Painting of Laboratory 4. A Kenwood Food Processor & Yam Pounder. 5. Laboratory Kitchen Shelver. 6. Laboratory Long Tables and Benches for Practicals. 7. Fixing of Iron Window Panes for 8 Large Windows. 8. Cake Mixer (one set). 9. Microwave Oven, 10. Double Sink, Taps & Accessories. 11. Kitchen Cabinet. 12. 10 Threadle Sewing Machines. 13. 2 Hand Sewing Machines. 14 Kenwood Blender 1.5 Liters. 15. B. JSS Furniture Needs: 150 Long Benches with Desk of Triple Partition i.e. 3 students per locker/bench. These 150 Long Benches will therefore serve 450 students.
C. Tiling of Some JSS Offices: 1. School Library, floor space is 58 square meters. 2. Vice Principal/G & C Room, floor space is 64 square meters. 3. Principal’s Reception Room, floor space 14 square meters.4. Principal’s Main Office, floor space is 19 square meters. 5. Main store, floor space is 18 square meters. Total tiles for all the rooms are 89 cartons. Tiles of 40 by 40 inches.
D. Air Conditioners for Offices: Principal Junior School 2 units air conditioner 1 hp, Vice Principal 1hp, G & C 1 unit air conditioner 1.5hp, Library 2 units air conditioner 1.5 hp, Staff Room (both senior and junior schools) 4 units 1.5 hp.
E. Furnishing and Equipping of Agric Laboratory.
F. Industrial Water Project.
G. Solar Power- Alternative source of power for some vital offices and equipment only.
H. Landscaping, Walkways and Horticulture.
I. New Language Laboratory.
J. Bus for the use of Sportsmen and Women.
K. Comprehensive Security Plan 1. Reinforcement of the school wall, security lightings and other equipments. 2. Other security tips.
L. 50 Desk Computers, 50 desks and chairs. 4 units of air conditioners 1.5 hp.
M. 1. Brickwork/Painting of wall at Principal’s Quarters 2. Tiling of 4 rooms plus passage way at Principal’s Quarters.
N. Provision of Waste Dump at Snr School.
O. Tiling of the office of Principal, Senior School (Principal Office 26 square metres, Secretarys office 24 square metres, First Store 4 square metres, Second Store 4 square metres and Toilet Floor 4 square metres) Total = 62 square metres
P. A big TV Screen for the teaching of Audio Visual Materials
Q. Renovation of the Basketball Court
R. Tiling of the Senior Staff Room
S. Renovation of the Multi-Purpose Hall
T. Renovation of Junior School Utility Block
U. Renovation of 5 Prefab Blocks (popularly called Jakande buildings) consisting of 15 classrooms
The Alumni said it has restrained itselve from providing costs for the projects,”because they’ve become unrealistic in view of the hyper inflationary nature of the country’s economy adding, “we will therefore advise that those interested in respective projects should do their costing at the point of actual execution. If any branches, sets, groups, individuals or corporate organisations decide on a pick, all they need to do is to consult any relevant technical adviser on costs.”
