Honourable Pascal Adigiwe is still beside himself with joy over the completion of the final phase of the underground pipe laying for the supply of water to Ogwashi Uku, the capital of Aniocha South Local Area by the state government led by Sen.( Dr,) Ifeanyi Okowa.

Adigiwe is particularly happy that the assignment he started while in the House of Representatives years ago for the completion of of the popular Ogwashi Uku Dam is becoming a reality.
Though, this is not the first time the town is experiencing pipe borne water; it did in the 1970s/80s when Dr. Isaac Okonjo and Brig Samuel Ogbemudia called the shots in the then Bendel State as governor and secretary to government respectively.

But like everything Nigeria, the project collapsed, including the Rural Electrification Board (REB), that lit up the town after many years.
So, it was not out of place when Adigiwe who is fondly referred to as nwa ora ni ine, son of everybody, wrote the followings below to recount his experience and in appreciation of Okowa who has made it possible for Ogwashi Uku dry taps to run again
” Following the acute water shortage in Ogwashi Uku, and the apparent delay in completing the federal dam project, which I attracted to Ogwashi when I was in he house of reps, we decided to pursue the reactivation of the existing water scheme.
“I got the Ministry of Water Resources led by the then commissioner, Tilije.
“A due assessment was conducted and established it’s workability.
“Governor graciously gave approval and work commenced.
“The entire water scheme was repaired and put to use as main source of water.
“The changing of the old asbestos pipes with this latest technology began first with 1.5km, which was tested and confirmed ok.
“We connected to homes in Ogbe Odogwu, Idumu Ogwude and Idumu Okogwu axis and they enjoy the water now.
“Happy with this, the Governor once again approved another 4.5km to cover a wider scope of the town. Up to Agidiasei, Ishekpe, General Hospital, Isah Road, Ogbe Ubu, Umudei, Ikelike, Ogbe Ogwudei, Azungwu etc.
“This phase is what has just been completed and water running.
“This is a very serious achievement for the town and we are so grateful.

“We are hoping to continue more coverage and government settles down.
“All APPRECIATIONS go to our Governor and all glory to God,” he wrote to Newdawn.
