Over 1000 houses are to be demolished in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital by the state government for sitting on water bed.

The houses, according to the State Urban and Regional Planning Agency have been marked and the owners informed.
Sources said unlike in the last administration when houses were demolished arbitrarily to pave way for road construction, the demolition would go through normal process.
The source said the houses are in Kuto, Isale Igbehin, Sokori and some other areas.
He explained that most of the houses did not obey the set back rule as the number of meters from the River bank thus endangering the lives of occupants.
He said that the demolition would start next month after the required notice given to the owners and occupiers of the houses
