Second tenure endorsement: Edo dep gov in crisis of confidence

The crisis rocking the Edo All Progressives Congress, APC, which has pitched the state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki against his predecessor and national chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, was further worsened with Uzairue people accusing the deputy governor, Phillip Shaibu and his kinsmen, Jattu, of impersonation leading to a crisis of confidence on him.
Shaibu and Oshiomhole are both from Uzairue clan in Etsako West Local Government Area but from different villages, Jattu and Iyamho respectively.

Shaibu’s kinsmen under the auspices of Jattu Progressive Union, JPU had in a letter conveyed to the state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki and signed by the chairman, Rev. Dr. Felix Oshionebo with other exco members had stated that Uzairue clan has endorsed the duo of Godwin Obaseki and Phillip Shaibu ticket for a second term in office.
The said letter has generated condemnation by the Uzairue people who felt the union went beyond their bounds to be speaking for the clan which they considered as impersonation and heresy.
In a statement by the forum of concerned Uzairue citizens and signed by he President, Mallam Abdulkadiri Suleiman, it said: “We regard the posture of Jattu Progressive Union, JPU, leaders as unethical and disrespectful to the Uzairue traditional council and repugnant for a village in Uzairue to claim it acted on behalf of an entire clan in such a sensitive issue all in a bid to show solidarity to the deputy governor who hails from a village within the clan”
According to the group, the forum is much willing to back any administration which delivers on its promises irrespective of misgivings rather than succumb to sentiments.
“It’s almost three years this administration in which we have a Jattu son as deputy governor came to power, yet, there is hardly any positive sign to point out .
“For instance, the street lights in Jettu are dead and forgotten while the SEEFOR World Bank assisted projects presence is only felt in a section of Jattu.”
