The Social Investment Programme Co-ordinator in the area, Alhaji Ibrahim Nayaya, made the disclosure in Gumel on Wednesday, while presenting silver bowls and spoons to 152 cooks engaged in the programme.

According to him, the programme is implemented in 57 primary schools in the area.

Nayaya said the federal government provided the bowls and spoons to the cooks as part of efforts towards ensuring that pupils were served food under hygienic condition.

The co-ordinator urged headmasters of the schools to report to him any cook found serving pupils in dirty bowls for necessary action.

Speaking at the occasion, the council Chairman, Alhaji Aminu Sani, thanked government for providing free meals to the pupils, noting that the gesture had increased school enrollment in the area. (NAN)
