

Ekiti state Government has reiterated its commitment to quality and affordable Health Care services to all residents of the state.
The State Commissioner for Health and Human Services Dr.(Mrs) Mojisola Yaya-Kolade stated this while Flagging off the National Immunization Plus Days(NIPs) Organized by Ekiti State Primary Health Care Development Agency in Ado- Ekiti.
Dr Yaya-Kolade noted that a four-day intensive immunization service delivery would complement routine health services by ensuring that the service is made available to all children under age five at various health facilities and other designated centres.
“Today is an history making event. It is another giant step by the Ekiti state government and health care providers in Ekiti state towards total eradication of poliomyelitis in Ekiti state and Nigeria at large” .She said.

The commissioner expressed deep appreciation to Gov. Kayode Fayemi for giving priority to the health of Ekiti residents. She commended Health Development Partners such as
National Primary Health Care Development, Agency, WHO,UNICEF and other relevant partners for their tiredness and selfless support on maternal and child health issues in the state.
Earlier in her remarks, the Permanent Secretary State Primary Health Care Development Agency Pharmacist Olabisi Arogundade implored mothers and caregivers to ensure that that their children are fully immunized and well protected against the childhood killer diseases.
“Let us join hands together to fight poliomyelitis and bring and reduction the mortality rate caused by the virus which has of late became a major cause of death and disabilities in the world, most especially endemic nations like Nigeria”. she added.

Pharmacist Arogundade commended Ekiti state Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi for his efforts at ensuring that all Ekiti residents live in good health.
In their goodwill messages, the partners noted that poliomyelitis is a highly contagious via infection that affects children 0-5 mostly which can cause death or disabilities if not prevented.
“When Children receive two drops of oral polio vaccine it provides immunity for them, they have a better chance to fight off the infection”. The medical consultants noted.
The Four-Day National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDs) Campaign would commence on the 20th July and end on the 23rd of July,2019.
