Nowhere is safe, protesters mourn doctor killed 48 hours after graduation

A protest was held on Friday at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital at Idi-Araba, calling for justice after a medical doctor, Dr. Stephen Urueye, was stabbed to death near the school on Thursday.

A hashtag, #JusticeforStephen has been trending on Twitter in the wake of his death.

According to a popular doctor on Twitter, Dr. Chioma Nwakanma, Urueye was an only son, who just convocated on Wednesday. She said he was stabbed to death around 9:00 p.m. at the LUTH Gate.

Doctors and students from the school held a protest on Friday, demanding that those responsible for his death be apprehended. They are also calling for improved security of lives and property in the university community.
