Mafe had notified the House that he was defecting to APM and had gone ahead to contest for the House of Representives of the Remo Federal Constituency which he lost woefully
But Mafe in the withdrawal letter read by Mr Suraj Adekunbi (Yewa North 1), the Speaker, during plenary stated that he had returned to the All Progressive Congress (APC).
“I had earlier written a letter of which to leave Apc.

Since Mafe’s defection to APM on November 29, a new majority leader was not elected with angry members accusing the Speaker of fraustrating the efforts
Also during plenary, Olakunle Oluomo the Deputy Speaker, explained that it was important for the assembly to carry out assessment of Ministry’s, Department’s and Agency’s (MDAs), saying that the present administration was winding up.
“It is obvious that the state government is winding up . There is need for the House to carry out assessment of MDAs so that we can know where we are at the state before the government winds up, ” Oluomo said.
Publicity secretary of APC Tunde Oladunjoye said:
The issue of Majority Leader is left for the Honourable Members of the House.
As at the last check, Yinka was a candidate of APM.
His purported return is unknown to the party. He is on his own. He should be knowledgeable enough that defecting from a party and returning to the same party is not done on the floor of the House of Assembly. The House is only to be informed. I can tell you categorically that as at the time of answering your questions, our records do no have YINKA Mafe as a member of our party. If he wants to return to our party, he knows what to do.
