Senate on Wednesday investigate perceived
inconsistent application of Electoral law by Electoral body in 2019 General election.
Senate Committee on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been mandated to carry out the investigation.
Although, the motion tore the Senate apart across party line, the lawmakers condemned Militarization of Elections in some states of the federation.
Senate took the decision following the motion sponsored by Senator Dino Melaye who lamented the inconsistent application of Electoral law by INEC in a matter of national elections.
He said that deployment of Military for an election pose serious threats to country’s democracy and has security implications that must be nipped in the bud.
