Thugs loyal to an APC leader in Bayelsa State, Kojo Sam, have reportedly taken over Nembe-Bassambiri, shooting and chasing away indigenes of the communities.
No fewer than 1000 persons have fled and taken refuge in Ogbolomabiri-Nembe and in Yenagoa, the state capital.
The thugs have mounted illegal road blocks and are said to have resisted the soldiers and policemen deployed in the area.
The security personnel are reportedly helpless as the thugs are said to have the backing of a prominent APC leader in the state.
This fresh action is a re-enactment of last weekend’s violence visited on the Nembe-Bassambiri communities where political thugs loyal to the same Kojo and backed by the military sacked the indigenes, paving the way for the stealing of voting materials and the eventual massive rigging of the presidential and National Assembly elections in the area.
