A Lagos lawmaker, Mr Olanrewaju Oshun, has appealed to Lagos residents, irrespective of ethnic affiliations, to conduct themselves peacefully in the March 9 Gubernatorial and State House of Assembly elections.
Oshun, an All Progressives Congress (APC) member, representing Mainland Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, made the appeal on Thursday, at an interactive session held at Rowe Park Yaba.
He urged youths not to engage in thuggery and election violence or anything that would undermine the peace of the nation.
“Our youths should not engage in anything that will disrupt the peace and tranquillity of the nation. They should conduct themselves honourably, during and after elections.
He also urged parents and guardian to advise their wards and children not to foment trouble during the forthcoming elections.
Mr Kayode Omiyale, Chairman of Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA), urged Nigerians not to allow their political differences degenerate into any form of violence such that would throw Nigeria into chaos.
“The election so far is adjudged peaceful and credible, and we should do same for the next week election.
“We appeal to Nigerians to conduct themselves peacefully so as to avoid bloodshed and bloodletting; we are all working toward the development of the state,” he said.
