A Don, Dr Awotein George, has advised politicians arming youths with fire arms to win election to use expend the money  to establish industries where youths would be engaged in  legal businesses.

George, who made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, attributed the attitude of such politicians to desperation.

“Such desperate politicians should establish businesses that could engage youths meaningfully rather than buying guns for them,” George said,

He also  advised politicians to emulate the political virtue of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan whom he said was not a desperate politician.

“Remember that Jonathan said in 2015 that no elective political office was worth the blood of a single Nigerian. “

George is the Head of Department (HOD), Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Environment, Rivers State University, Port Harcourt, and a Priest of Glorious Covenant Church, Port Harcourt.

The lecturer recalled that Jonathan, who was Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate in 2015 general elections, was the first politician in the country to congratulate President Muhamadu Bubari on his election victory.

The don said the ex-president had created a world record by that singular act, adding that they should emulate him by eschewing politics of desperation, reminding them that “power comes from God. “

According to him, there is no need for desperation in politics and in life generally, noting that life is not all about accumulating wealth but having legacy worthy of emulation.(NAN)
