Ambode behind protesters at assembly – Sources

Those, who ought to know and who know, the genesis of the face off between the governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode and the members of the state House of Assembly, are alleging that the governor is behind the protesers’ that occupied the premises of the Assembly in demonstrating against his planned impeachment by the house.

The Assembly had alleged that the governor had refused to lay the 2019 budget before it as stipulated by the constitution and that instead, he had started implementing the provisions of the budget which had not been passed into law and requested him to come and present it formally to the house to enable its passage into law or face impeachment.

But rather than listen to the advice of the honourable members of the house, a civil society organisation, CSO, by  name, Lagos Liberation Movement, LLM, threatened to resist the planned impeachment moves and next was the occupation of the assembly by protesters.

A source at the Assembly, however, said that the crowd was a rented one paid by Ambode and his supporters.

The source who refused to be quoted asked, ” LLM issued its threat late in the night of Tuesday, January 29, 2019 and in the morning of Wednesday January 30, 2019, we woke up to see the crowd. Please give us  a break. Ambo ni. Tell him to comevhere and  answer the queries of honourable members,” the source said.

Another source, this time a journalist, asked rhetorically, ” what do we call this show by Ambode? If all the show of South south governors could not save Onneghen from suspension, how can these plycard carrying  ‘lazy’ youths save Ambo?

He, however, pleaded that due process must be followed if truely that Ambode had committed any impeachable offence.
