In what could be described as a surprise move, governors of the south eastern States, a geographical area known for its support for the major opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) are said to be putting structures in place for a rousing welcome and support for President Muhammadu Buhari of the ruling APC when he comes to Enugu to flag-off of the south east campaign for his second term in the South east capital.
Sources revealed to newdawn that the governors of the five SE states have commissioned aides to hire at least nine buses per ward to bring crowd to the venue for today’s event.
This is contrary to their expected support for their partys candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
According to an insider, the governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi ordered PDP Enugu State to mobilise 9 buses per ward for President Buhari’s visit.
However, another source close to the PDP in Enugu state described the report as evidence of a ploy by the ruling APC to convey the impression that the SE has shifted support for Buhari saying the crowd you are going to see today is a rented crowd. The crowd seen today in Enugu represents not only rented crowd rented with public funds but also fake crowd procured by southeast governors including three PDP governors”.
The source also confirmed that in addition, similar thing is going on in Ebonyi and Abia states.
He also affirmed that a similar thing is being perpetrated with tax payers resources or public funds in Imo and Anambra known to be All Progressives Congress [APC] and All Progressives Grand Alliance [APGA] respectively.
