The Independent Campaign Group has strongly condemned the attacks on the supporters of All progressive congress (APC) Governorship candidate in Ogun state, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
The state cordinator of the group Hon, Babayemi Babatunde in a statement released said, “the attack which took place at Odogbolu and a similar occurrence at Ewekoro by APM members on an APC member, as some APC supporters were awaiting the arrival of the party’s Governoship candidate, is a clear indication that opponents are jittery over the popularity and acceptability and rousing welcome that had been trailing the party’s campaign in the state”.

He explained that no matter the motive behind the attack, it only indicates one thing, incapabilily and acceptance of defeat by the attackers and their sponsors, noting that no party or candidate with meaningful programes that will better the life of people of the state will result to violence as the only option to attain power.
“It is unfortunate that while the APC and all its candidates were busy selling their manifestoes to the electorates across the state, anchored on Divine assurance, some desperate rejected power drunk politicians were busy hatching plot to unleash violence on our candidates and supporters” He said.
The Coordinator however called on president Muhammad Buhari and all good citizens of the state, lovers of democracy to rise in condemnation of this dangerous phenomenon that want to turn the state to battle field.
Babayemi while appealing to APC supporters in the state to remain calm and focus on the victory ahead which its countdown has begun, he urged the Inspector General of Police,Director General of the Department of State Securities,The General Officer Commanding the 2nd Division of the Nigerian Army and other Security Agencies to immediately commence investigation into the attack and bring the perpetrators of this cowardly act to book.
