NLC, TASCE decry 29 months unpaid salary by Amosun

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ogun State Chapter and the Union Leaders of Tai Solarin College of Education (TASCE) have decried the 29 months unpaid salary by the present administration led by Senator, Ibikunle Amosun, the Ogun State governor.

A union leader of the college, Comrade Daniel Aborisade, made this known during a press confrence held at the College Conference Hall, Omu Ijebu in Ijebu Ode.

He said that the last administration led by Otunba Gbenga Daniel left 7 month salary in 2011, adding that Governor Amosun was presently owning the college staff 29 months salary and 48 months salary arrears, stressing that the Union demand 100% payment of the above salaries to members of staff.

Aborisade said members also expressed their displeasure at the stagnant promotion of staff since 2013, inconsistence remittance of pensions, non payment of annual increment to mention but a few, adding that the revenue generated from the TASCE Primary School, certificate issuance, part-time and other ventures should be used to augment staff salary by way of relief

He said the Union would continued to fight for its right untilled a logical conclusion be reached, saying that legal option, spiritual and meeting major stakeholders have been considered to finally resolved the issue. He said that the non payment of salaries and arrears has made life so difficult for members of TASCE staff for years as many members had loss their life during the struggle.

Speaking the leader of the Ogun State Chapter of Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Akeem Ambali said that there is no justification for any responsible government to owe its staff salary, saying that the non payment of the wages would have affected the staff psychologically, family disharmony, health wise, untimely death and would have caused a lot of family tensions among the staff.

“Well it is unexpected, unpatriotic, anti people and anti God, for there is no justification whatsoever for any responsible government to owe its workers even up to two months salaries talk less of 29 months because workers live only on salaries and wages and this would have affected their family status, health status and would have cause disharmony in the family among psychological tension” Ambali said.

Calling on Governor Amosun to look into the issue before the expiration of his tenure, Ambali said it was regrettable that such situation was happening in a Higher Institution where lectureres are regarded as a future molder’s who have produced professor, technocrats for development of the country.
