After losing out to Senator Peter Nwaoboshi in his attempt at snatching the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket to go to the Senate, Hon. Ned Nwoko, was among those inaugurated yesterday, Monday, December 10, 2018, as members of PDP campaign team saddled with the task of seeking re-election for Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta State.
Others from his Anioma nation are Hon. Pascal, Ifeanyi Michael Osazua .
While inaugurating the members of the campaign team, Okowa told them to make their electioneering campaign an issue based one noting that the PDP government of the state, which he led had a lot to talk about instead of engaging in frivolities and mudslinging.
Okowa in his less than four years as the chief executive of the state has achieved so much in the state especially in the area of road reconstruction, repairs, and rehabilitation that he is now nicknamed the roadmadster.
But the inclusion of Nwoko in the campaign team is coming to many who have followed the PDP primary of Delta North Senatorial District, in which Nwoko lost out in his bid to pick the party’s ticket to seek the peoples’ mandate to represent the district at the Senate.
While many allude to the fact
that Okowa’s decision to include Nwoko in his campaign team is a testimony to the fact that he (Okowa) is a team player that believes in giving all, a level playing ground.
Others believe that he is an inclusive and not an exclusive politician that does not have a preference for anybody but for all.
But others feel that the inclusion of Nwoko was just to make up the number. And their reason is simple. They asked how can a Nwoko who failed to secure for himself a senatorial ticket involving just 9 local governments sell the candidature of Okowa throughout the nooks and crannies of the state.
To them, Okowa is merely playing to the gallery. To been seen as a team player that wants to sooth frayed nerves.
According to one of them who refused his name in print, ” how can Nwoko who has not won an election, even at the party level, since 2007 to date help Okowa win an election. Ned Nwoko is an example of that saying, ‘physician, cure thou self.'”
