The modalities for the campaign is threatening to tear apart the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Ogun State as candidates of the party are now worried over who would lead their campaign across the state.
The APM candidates who are mostly Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s consensus candidates who lost out in the All Progressives Congress (APC) are worried that the Governor would not be able to lead their campaign as he would also be campaigning for his senatorial election under the APC.
One of the House of Assembly candidates who spoke with New Dawn said that the campaign issue has been the concern of all of them as there would be no other person who can be safely said to have contacts across the state.
“That was what we all were discussing at our last meeting. Our Governorship candidate is barely known outside his local government and there is nobody who can be said in the party known statewide. So who will lead us across the state campaigning for all the candidates?
“Our leader has told us not to worry but no answer has been provided. Yes, we have been told that we will be mobilized but this thing is just not all about money because it means no leader will come and campaign for me in my constituency. It means I will be left to do it all by myself”
The candidate said although there was no going back on his decision to contest as he has printed his postal and paid for the erection of his billboard, he was worried that he may be left alone to do all the campaign by himself.
He, however, said that he was hopeful that “our leader who gave us the ticket” would find a way around the issue when campaigns kick off fully.
