FORMER House of Representatives member and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming elections, Hon Olumide Osoba has said that the campaigns for the elections should be issue based and a showcase of achievements in terms of service to the community rather than mud- slinging.
Hon Osoba who is contesting the Abeokuta North/Obafemi Owode/ Odeda Federal Constituency seat said he was proud and can boldly say that while he was representing the area between 2011 and 2015 he facilitated well over 60 infrastructural projects to the constituency
He lamented that since his representation lapsed within the time frame of four years, no meaningful progress, translating to physical project has been facilitated to the constituency but rather that stomach infrastructure had been the order of the day
Hon Osoba in a statement he signed personally said “while in the House, I embarked on empowerment programmes, all at the same time building the future of our young constituents by constructing a pair of 3-block of Classrooms in each of the local Governments that make up the Federal Constituency, amongst other meaningful infrastructural projects.
“And such include five Primary Healthcare Centres and well over half a dozen electrification projects consisting of transformers, poles and power cables.
“Also, while in the house, I sponsored bills and moved motions but that has not been the case shortly after I vacated the seat and my successor took over. And what do we get in return? Rather, hooliganism becomes the fair share of the representation for my constituents at the Lower Chamber of the National Assembly.
“As the campaigns commence, a critical appraisal of an individual candidate needs to be done by the very enlightened, exposed and sophisticated electorates of Abeokuta North/Obafemi Owode/Odeda Federal Constituency by keeping in mind the horrid representation they have experienced in the last four years and also, so that they don’t fall prey of the antics of a misfit.
The time is now to rewrite the history of our Federal Constituency and put it on the right perspectives for future sake, once again.”
Expressing his appreciation for the opportunity, he said “It is a privilege that I appreciate and I would not take for granted. For who so much is given much is expected.
