Senate probes security agencies over Kwara bye-elections

Senate has mandated its Joint Committee on Police and National Security to investigate involvement of Security agencies in the just concluded bye- election in Kwara state.

The decision of the Senate was sequel to a point of order raised by Senator Rafiu Ibrahim who revealed how security agencies intimidated and harassed voters in the just concluded bye election in the state.

He accused the ruling party of using Police helicopter to bring money into a particular community in the state.

Reacting, Senate President, Bukola Saraki said,” we have responsibility to ensure that the election does not involve the issue of harassment and security agencies should not be partisans.”

Senate thereby mandate the joint committee to investigate the harassment and intimidation of voters during the bye-election.
