Aregbesola’s achievements, virtues commended at Lagos event

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), have extolled the virtues of outgoing governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
In a well attended event in Lagos Thursday, beneficiaries of the good governance and people friendly projects and policies of the governor took turn to praise his two terms in the south western state.
Comrade Femi Aborisade told journalists at the event that Aregbesola is a man worthy of emulation.
According to Aborisade, “Nobody has pointed to houses Aregbesola built abroad or to any foreign bank account traceable to him. He is somebody who does not believe in mismanaging public fund.”
Son of the outgoing governor, Comrade Kabiru Aregbesola also at the event reeled out some of the achievement of his father during his eight years in office.
According to him, the state’s GDP has greatly improved giving the people a better life.
“In 2010 at the beginning of the administration, the Osun GDP was N191bn but today, it stands at N398bn, meaning the quality of life of the people is now better,” he said.
Aregbesola also told the audience that Osun State according to the National Bureu of Statistics has the lowest poverty rate due to the hard work of the APC-led government.
“The population of the state is 4million and if you can lift 700,000 people out of poverty, it is worthy of commendation,” he said, adding that, “Osun State now has the lowest poverty rate in Nigeria.
According to Aregbesola, “In 2012, the state also revived the school feeding scheme that Chief Obafemi Awolowo created back then. Today the Federal Government of Nigeria has started feeding school children.
“It is now on record Osun has served 216million plates of food to school children. Now the Federal Government has embraced it. Osun started youth empowerment scheme, today again the Federal Government has embarked on N-Power.
Aregbesola however told the audience that there are 1.6million small businesses in Osun State as against 481,000 the outgoing government met in 2018.
He however enjoined the people of the state to cooperate with the new team of the leadership in the state to be led by incoming governor Gboyega Oyetola.
