Four priests of the Roman Catholic Church were kidnapped Tuesday in Abraka area of Delta State.
One of those attacked is Reverend Father Emmanuel Obadjere.
According to sources close to the priests, the incident occurred on Tuesday as they were descending the bridge in Abraka.
The clergy men were reportedly traveling in four vehicles while the kidnappers allegedly forced two of the vehicles to stop.
The attackers allegedly ordered the occupants out of the vehicles.
“Father Obadjere was travelling with his clergy friends to Ekpoma for their school’s old students meeting when the incident happened at Abraka as they were coming down from the bridge. It was on Tuesday,” a source said.
Continuing, the source added that,
“They were in four vehicles. The kidnappers could not track the first two cars in front. The kidnappers looked like
Herdsmen. They abandoned the vehicles the Priests were driving in. So it was the Priests in the other two vehicles that alerted other Priests in Warri Diocese of the development.
Another source revealed that two of the priests are from Benin arch diocese, one from Abuja and the other from Warri
Diocese.
It is not certain if the kidnappers had made any demand for ransom while the abducted persons are still with the kidnappers.
