This is not the first time he is giving back to the land of his birth, Abeokuta.
And this certainly will not be his last effort at making sure that Abeokuta where he grew up and which he sang about glowingly in his numerous ever green pieces continues to feel his impact.

However, what makes this different and interesting is his choice of gift to the town.
Chief Ebenezer Obey Fabiyi who is variously referred to as Ebenezer Obey or Baba Commander by his fans and admirers, by that act of giving back, has provided an avenue where residents of the town can be exposed to the kind of opportunity, he never had in his days, to Horne their talents and skills in music.

The multimillionaire studio and music school are also opened to enable those desirous of eking out a living in the profession to sharpen their skills to the professional stage.

The studio is situated  on Lafenwa road the area of the town where he once had a hotel.

The studio, according to Mr. Tunji Odunmbaku, his business manager of decades standing, is the first of its kind in the ancient city.

Already youngsters of different sexes and ages, as can be seen in the picture above, have enrolled in the music school and studio to sharpen their arts and skill.

The studio can be likened to his former Decross Records Limited, sited at the Murero area of Agege, Lagos and managed then by one of his daughters. And it is not impossible or will be surprising to hear that he wants to bring back the good old days of Decross. Nothing is impossible!

In the words of Odunmbaku the “mega, multi-purpose recording studio, first of its kind in Abeokuta, is part of the OBEY Music Foundation, music and life skills institute, located at KM 4, Ayetoro road, Lafenwa.”

Watch out for a detailed interview with Obey on his decision to give back to Abeokuta, the land where he grew up.
