567,637 PVCs ready for collection in Ogun, says INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has said that a total of 567,637 Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs), are available for collection across the 236 wards of Ogun State.
This was disclosed by the Administrative Secretary of the Commission in the state, James Popoola, at a one-day Stakeholders Election Forum on display, clean-up of the register of voters and collection of Permanent Voters Cards, held in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The INEC boss said the cards were for those who registered from 2011 to March 2018 during the Continuous Voter Registration exercise.
The Administrative Secretary hinted that the collection of the cards would take place from November 6th to 12th at collation centres in various registration areas.
He also added that the PVCs for the 2018 second quarter CVR are being printed and would be made available when ready.
Popoola said the essence of the Voter Register Clean-Up was to assist eligible Nigerians to confirm their registration status while adding that about 2,386,101 names of registered voters would be pasted in 3,210 polling units in the state.
Popoola, therefore, advised all stakeholders to actively participate in the exercise by mobilising and sensitising citizens on the need to collect their PVCs.
He said, ” The whole essence of Voter Register Clean-Up is to assist eligible voters to confirm their registration status; to remove names of deceased, underage, and non-Nigerians from the register of voters; to insert omitted names and to correct spellings and other errors identified in gender, names, age and addresses.
“Only citizens with PVCs are eligible to participate in the election. Go out and collect your cards. No collection by proxy.”
