The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Alhaji Ibrahim Idris has condemned the alleged attack on police personnel and the setting ablaze of police vehicle by the El-Zakzakky Islamic Movement of Nigeria which threw the Wuse 2 of the Federal capital territory into panic mood yesterday.
He has equally directed a total clamp-down on the perpetrators, thorough investigation and prosecution of the members of the religious sect, now in Police custody.
According to a release from the police, about 400 members of the group were arrested today for disturbance of public peace, law and order in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and setting ablaze of police vehicle. Those arrested were allegedly armed with thirty one (31) bottles of petrol bombs and other dangerous weapons and are now in police custody, will all be arraigned in Court after investigation under Terrorism Prevention Amendment Act 2013.
