Scores of councilors, elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), across the 20 Local Government Areas of Ogun State have declared that they would not support any governorship candidate of the party, except Abdul-Kabir Adekunle Akinlade.
The Councilors insisted that only the candidate which is the choice of Governor Ibikunle Amosun was acceptable to them.
The councilors made the position known at a special meeting held at the Obas Complex Conference Hall, Oke- Mosan, Abeokuta summoned at the instance of the Governor through the Ministry of Local Government
Speaking on behalf of the Councilors in the three Senatorial Districts, Ololade Kazeem, Jide Opafola and Tunde Makinde, alleged that the mandate freely given by APC members in Ogun State to Akinlade on October 2, 2018, was “stolen”.
According to them, the direct primary election which produced Akinlade as the APC governorship candidate was conducted throughout the wards in Ogun State and witnessed by security agents and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

They further described the primary election, conducted by the election panel committee set up by the National Working Committees (NWC) and which returned Dapo Abiodun as the party candidate, as “fraudulent and a daylight robbery”.
They, therefore demanded a return of Akinlade’s alleged stolen mandate to him as the rightful candidate of the party.
Meanwhile, the councilors, dissociated themselves from supporting and endorsing Abiodun, submitting that only “ghost councilors endorsed him”.
