Senate bars substitution of candidate without election

Senate on Tuesday banned substitution of candidate of a political party without the primary election in the Electoral act just passed today.

Senate decision was sequel to the passage of Electoral act . The passage will be fourth time that the bill was passed on the floor of the Senate.

According to the bill as passed by Senate, provided that in case of such withdrawal or death of a candidate , the political party affected shall within ten days of occurrence of the event, hold a fresh primary election to produce and submit a fresh candidate to the commission for the election concerned.
