Aare Baaroyin of Egbaland,chief Lai Labode has debunked rumour making the rounds that former head of State, Chief Earnest Shonekan is dead.
His rebutal came today in a press statement he issued in Abeokuta.
Chief Labode, confirmed that he just spoke with the Personal Assistant of Chief Shonekan, Mr Dickson who refuted the story and confirmed to him that Chief Shonekan is alive.
“I have just spoken with Chief Earnest Shonekan’s Personal Assistant, Mr. Dickson who refuted the story and also confirmed to him that the former head of Interim National Government in1993 is alive,” he declared.

Speaking further he said,”the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, had phoned him and he (Dickson) confirmed to him that Chief Shonekan was alive”.
Chief Labode disclosed further that the
Media aide to the Babasale of Egbaland, Mr. Gbenga Fasina, also confirmed that the former head of state is alive.
He however promised to keep the nation informed of further developments.
